Her favorite place to be was curled up with a good book, a pot of hot tea, and a fire in the woodstove. Kay was a voracious reader of history as well as a variety of other subjects. She helped people all over the country reconnect with their Push County roots. Kay quickly got involved with the Pushmataha County historical society and became known as the go to person in the area to help with family and local history. In these pre-Internet days, Kay wrote letters to names found in phone books and got information from microfilm, books, and newsletters. It started with a need to know more about her people and where they came from. After the untimely death of her husband, Kay and her children moved back to Antlers in 1984.
